Pegasus LFC Bounce Back - July 2008

Pegasus LFC return for the 2008/09 season with desire to put things right again. After 2 successive promotions, the ladies side found themselves in the Midland Combination. Within 3 weeks of the season starting, the squad suffered 4 major injuries and had lost 2 players to retirement and university. The differences in leagues were very apparent and with a depleted squad the Pegasus side were relegated however they did well to even finish the season often only taking 9 players to places such as Sheffield, Derby and Leicester.

This year however with their 4 injured players ready to start pre-season training, the inclusion of Dave Weston, fitness coach, who supported the ladies successful season when they won the West Midland Premier League, the voluntary efforts of team coach Stuart Jones and their new manager Wayne Powell, Pegasus LFC are doing everything possible to find confidence again and fitness to enjoy this season.

All new players are welcome and should contact Marcie Furness 07967019039 or Wayne Powell 07773848332.

Pegasus Retain Memorial Shield - August 2008

Pegasus 2 v 1 Cheltenham LFC

Pegasus gained their first win of the season and in almost 9 months after their disappointing spell in the Midlands Combination against South West Premier league side Cheltenham LFC. The game was in it's 11th year as the Pegasus side remembered their football Colleague Beverly Price who was sadly murdered in Worcester at the age of just 23. It was an opportunity for new Manager Wayne Powell to also trial several new players from a strong squad of 20.

Amongst them were the return of injured players from last pre-season Etty Greenhouse and Chelsey Snead of whom all at Pegasus were delighted to see back. Etty Greenhouse completed 90 minutes and her determination of returning to excellent fitness was rewarded by her captaining the game and lifting Pegasus's first trophy.

The game was a great opener for Pegasus and the first half showed a fine display of quick passing and organisation from defence to attack. Several times Pegasus came close with Nina Emery being played through well by Jade Powell and Mel Mayo but unfortunately the teams went in at half time 0 - 0.

As the second half began it was played in the same manner and Pegasus constantly attacked. Finally the score was opened by Simone Quinn from 20 yards out which completed an excellent move combining Mel Mayo, Julie Nicholas and Nina Emery.

Chletenham didn't show any threat in open play as the defence held strong but they gained a free kick with 15 minutes to go which somehow ended up in the back of the net. Pegasus determined not to finish the game through penalties rose to the challenge and continued to attack and deservedly gained the winner through Julie Nicholas after good pressure.

New manager Wayne Powell was pleased with this opening fixture and is looking forward to South West Premier League side Gloucester City LFC Wednesday 13th August at Old School Lane. 7.30pm ko. All welcome.
